Geology,being primarily an outdoor science,can not be fully comprehended nor appreciated without field work.
Indeed,field work is an essential and integral part of geology.This is evident from the geology.This is evident from the geologist's motto,"Mente et Malleo"("with Mind and Hammer") in which "malleo" (hammer) stands for practical field work. (from......field geology book)
